The simulative inaccuracy has become a frequently encountered problem in university library’s building energy simulation. One possible reason of such inaccuracy is that the office building occupancy model is commonly used as the default input. Studies the library occupancy and finds that the library occupancy is noteworthy difference from office building occupancy. The calibrating energy simulation using default occupancy and observed occupancy shows a relative simulative deviation of -19.67% with the former occupancy and -3.74% with the latter one. It is concluded that the accuracy of building energy simulation can be substantially improved using the bespoke occupancy of a specific type of building. One possible solution to overcoming the inaccuracy in building energy simulation is to investigate and summarize the bespoke occupancy of specific buildings and replace the default one.
